Diversity and Leadership (Chin & Trimble, 2014) Sage Publishers

ISBN:978-1-4522-5789-1

A new paradigm offered by Chin & Trimble (2014) addresses the need for leadership theories and practice to be global and diverse, and to be inclusive of the social identities, lived experiences, and contexts of leaders and followers.  Leadership is shaped by values, perceptions, and expectations based on a Diverse Leader-Member-Organization Exchange paradigm (DLMOX).  Leadership development must impart new understanding about who our leaders are, the process of intercultural communication, the nature of the leader-member exchange within social and organizational contexts if it is to be effective and relevant for the 21st century.
